Gary is a native of Santa Clara County. He was born at San Jose Hospital and grew up in Campbell. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at San Jose State University and possesses a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University. Gary was also a Certified Public Accountant.

Gary and his wife, Toni, also a lifelong resident of Santa Clara County, have strong ties to the community. Toni has an established retail business in Cupertino. Along with their two children they reside in Monte Sereno. Gary enjoys spending his free time with his family, gardening and pursuing his passion for the game of golf.
